From May to July
This period can be the worst for many foreign travelers because of being hot in the whole country. The further South you go, the hotter it will be when it can reach to 40oC. If you visit Vietnam during this time, do not join many outdoor activities, instead, you can do relax on the beaches, rivers or cruises. Also, do not forget to bring hat, raincoat and especially sun cream. It can unexpectedly rain in the day so prepare nylon bags for your trip to keep important items away from the wet. In case you are still interested in walking or trekking trips, just put a water bottle into a vacuum flask because you will lose water fast under such weather. Some preventive medicines also need to be considered to bring such as, fever, flu, allergy…If you plan to travel from cities to mountain areas or countryside, do not forget to have a good pair of shoes which fits to the slippery terrains because the chance of rains during this time is very high. Do not wear tight and thick but the comfortable clothes will be more suitable. Finally, during the hot climate, we can take a full advantage of nature in Vietnam that are beautiful beaches so do not forget to pack your swimsuit. There are many beautiful sandy beaches in Vietnam that we cannot miss. Why do we not take the chance of swimming? Especially, the cruise trip in Halong Bay will offer you stops for swimming on the emerald water.

From August to November
During this time, we will see many hurricanes in the whole country but mostly in the Center. However, it is more pleasant than May to July. If you travel to Vietnam during this time, bring some light and thin clothes. A light jacket is suggested if you travel to the North mountain, especially Sapa when it can drop to 17oC at night. Sun cream is also recommended to have, but you may not have use to frequently because there will be more cooler days with light sun.

You should expect days of storms and flight delays if traveling to Center Vietnam as it often sees about 7-8 hurricanes from September to November.

From December to February
It is time for winter coming when temperature drops quickly especially in the North and mountain areas. Warm jackets, sweaters, socks, shoes…are the most important items you cannot forget when traveling to Vietnam during this period. The average temperature in the North Vietnam is from 12oC to 20oC, but you can see snows in Sapa sometimes when it is dropped down to minus. Besides, persistent drizzles should be expected in January and February in the North which make roads dirty and wet. However, do not pack fully with warm and thick clothes because if you travel to further South, it will be much warmer. The average temperature is between 24 to 34oC. Therefore, you need to leave the space for your shirts, shorts, sandals…
